Financial Institutions & Banking Branch
Financial Institutions & Banking Branch
Provides students a resource to gain a greater understanding of a variety of financial institutions including bank financial institutions (i.e., commercial banks, saving & loans associations, and credit unions) and nonbank financial institutions (i.e., insurance companies, lending companies, investment firms, and FINTECH), with most of the focus being placed on bank financial institutions.
The branch hosts guest speakers, travels to the Atlanta Federal Reserve, and takes part in discussions on current events. Members also partake in the Forage simulation, a program that simulates tasks, responsibilities, and reports that a real commercial banking analyst would be required to do on a daily basis to prepare students for the future.

Message from Our Branch Director:
"Retail/commercial banks, insurance companies, brokerage firms, investment banks, mortgage companies, even private equity firms, are all different types of financial institutions, believe it or not, each providing their own service to their customers. In our branch, we mainly focus on commercial banking.
Banking is the backbone of our economy. Banks provide one of the primary sources of capital for many small and large businesses, facilitating many companies to grow and expand their business. They also help implement monetary policy, enabling Central Banks to control inflation and economic activity. Banking is also an incredibly diverse industry: whether you do real estate, healthcare, energy, private banking, and many more, banking will have an area for your specialty and interests that are perfect for you. This is just the tip of the iceberg as there's so much to financial institutions, so join our branch and learn more about what you can do in the future!" - Matthew Fierro
